Rilla
Software Engineering · New York City

85% of commerce still happens face to face. Almost none of it has ever been recorded.

Rilla is on a mission to index the offline world. There are billions of in-person sales conversations that run the world's economy. Nobody could capture and learn from these. Until now. Come be part of the team building the product that finally hears all of them.

The market

The largest part of the economy is a data black box.

E-commerce only represents about 15% of commerce in America. The other 85% happens when a salesperson meets their customer in person. This is the store associate at a retail store. The pharmaceutical rep going to a hospital. The salesperson in a model home selling a home to a family. The roofer who goes to a customer's house to inspect the roof. There are 10 million outside salespeople in the US. Close to 100 million across the developed world.

These companies spend $500 billion a year trying to understand a customer they are far removed from. One of the largest companies in this space, Nielsen, does $5 billion in revenue and hasn't changed in half a century. The industry uses antiquated methods like surveys, focus groups, and panels. Meanwhile, the conversations are happening with their sales and service teams billions of times a month. Rilla captures these and makes them searchable the way Google did for the web.

What you'd build

No product managers. You pick a product and own it.

Rilla isn't one product. It's multiple products that together bring superpowers to sales coaching. Several of these new products went from zero to more than $1M in ARR inside a year, each one owned by a handful of engineers.

RIDEALONG

Feedback for the rep

No more having the manager go on a physical ridealong with the rep. The rep receives feedback on every conversation.

INTELLIGENCE

Turn conversations into insights

The layer that reads millions of conversations and finds the patterns that were hidden before.

LIVE

Coach in the moment

Real-time guidance while the conversation is still happening, not a report the next morning.

ROLEPLAY

Practice makes perfect

Reps can train with the generated roleplay courses so they show up more prepared in the real conversation.

You'd own a product area outright. You scope it. You build it. You sit with the customer who uses it. All within your first few months.

10x your learning curve

Ownership grows as fast as you do.

"Seniority and tenure should almost never determine what you own."

— Chris Martin, Co-Founder

You get thrown in from day one. The more you execute, the more you own. That simple. Take Daniel Ramsgard for example. He joined as a college dropout, and at 21, he was in charge of building the Roleplay product. Within a couple of months, we launched it at Rilla Masters in March 2026 in front of 1,500 customers. Daniel was put in a position that usually takes years to get to at other companies. The bar is raw ability and passion over pedigree.

Why now

The product-market fit is settled. The biggest technical bets are still ahead.

Rilla crossed $50M in ARR and is tracking past $100M this year, with entirely new product lines along the way. The next wave of growth is engineering-shaped:

01The insights layer. Everything so far has served the salesperson. The other half of every conversation is the customer, and turning that into a searchable index of the offline economy is a $500B market nobody has touched.
02Live coaching in the field. Extending the AI sales coaching engine to guide reps live while they are in conversation with their customers.
03New verticals, new countries. Expansion into new verticals like home building, multifamily, medical devices, corporate real estate, and auto. London opened in March and is tracking past $5M ARR in Europe this year.
04Infrastructure for billions of minutes. The backbone that lets all of it keep scaling.

Priorities shift weekly. Challenges show up daily. Every problem you solve leaves a permanent mark on the company's trajectory. This is the earliest, steepest point of the curve you'll ever be able to join.

How we're built

Most startups at our stage look nothing like this.

You'll hear people at Rilla say how we're building a generational company. Because we are building for the long term, we seem like a weird company compared to other AI startups. We've done things differently than the rest.

CAPITAL

We've raised less than our current ARR

We are cashflow positive, meaning our business generates cash for us. We don't need to constantly raise money to stay afloat.

BOARD

No investors with board seats

We've kept investors off our board. Founders still own the majority of the company. This allows us to truly focus on answering to our customers and building for the long term.

YOUR EQUITY

Barely diluted, eventually liquid

We keep dilution minimal. Our Series A was only 8% dilution. Series B was 5%. We don't plan on raising many more rounds. We intend to run tender offers and buybacks as we mature.

HEADCOUNT

Lean on purpose

Our ARR per employee is $500K+. World class for a startup at our stage is $150K. We don't hire for the sake of hitting a headcount number. We keep the team lean and hire only the best.

We're not building this to sell. We're building it for the next decade.

Life at Rilla

Close to the customer, close to each other.

"Everybody at Rilla is locked in on doing their life's work here. That ambition and focus rubs off."

— Theo Carrel, Founding Software Engineer

The best performing teams are the ones that work together towards a common goal. Being in the same room is what makes that possible. Questions answered in seconds. Decisions made at someone's desk. Nobody spends a day building the wrong thing. Learning compounds like interest, and that compounding is the entire thesis of the company. This creates a culture of closeness in the team. People find lifelong friends and future co-founders here. We even have a Slack meme culture. Since life at Rilla revolves around the office, we provide perks to remove friction so employees can focus on the mission.

Meals covered. Breakfast in the kitchen. Healthy food catered for lunch and dinner.
$1,500/mo proximity stipend if you live within a 10-minute bike ride from the office.
In-office gym with state-of-the-art equipment and locker rooms, so you can be at your physical best.
Saturday run club, intramural teams, Smash tournaments, and late-night poker sessions.
Straight with you: This is a high-intensity, live-to-build environment. If you want a hard wall between work and life, Rilla probably isn't the fit. We'd rather say this up front than sell you something else.
Where we work

A brand new penthouse office by the water in Williamsburg. And a second in London.

The offline economy has never been captured. Come build the product that finally hears it.
